Friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 11, at Kramer Funeral Home, Monticello, where there will be a parish scripture service at 7 p.m. He was born on Nov. 25, 1918, in Taylor, son of Peter and Ella Sweeney Schwendinger. He attended school through the eighth grade and then worked as a farm hand throughout the Epworth area, mainly with the Kurt Farms. He married Rosalene Kuriger on June 2, 1942, at Sacred Heart Church, Monticello; she preceded him in death. Following his marriage, he worked many years for Kuriger Brothers Plumbing and Heating. In 1973, he founded Ken's Plumbing and Heating, which he operated until he retired. Kenneth enjoyed watching the Cubs, gardening and playing cards, especially bridge. Surviving are a daughter, Jolene Schwendinger, of Monticello; four sons, Dean (Marty), of Monticello, Ken (Gail), of Salisbury, N.C., David (Tammy), of Williamsburg, and Steven (Allison), of Las Vegas; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Kathy Schwendinger, of Mayer, Minn.; and a sister-in-law, Darlene Schwendinger, of Cedar Rapids. He also was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Thomas; a daughter, Louise; two brothers, Louis and Jim; and two sisters, Lenore Kruse and Mae Kedley.
