Description	:	CAMBRIDGE — Kenneth Leroy Lewis, 71, of Cambridge died Sunday, Sept. 6, 2015, at Cambridge Manor. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Trinity United Methodist Church in Cambridge with the Rev. Jeff Wulf officiating. Burial will be at 1 p.m. MDT at Riverside Cemetery in Wauneta. Lockenour-Jones Mortuary in Cambridge is in charge of the arrangements. He was born on the Famoy farm in Chase County near Wauneta on Nov. 12, 1943, to Elmer and Leretta (Bush) Lewis. Kenneth was the youngest of 10 children. He attended country school through the eighth grade and then went to high school in Wauneta. He graduated from Wauneta High School in 1961. He was an outstanding athlete during his high school career. Kenneth was baptized at an early age in the Wauneta Methodist Church. He worked various farm jobs in the area and later got a job at the Beverly Elevator. It was there that he met Joanne Moncrief. The couple married on March 21, 1964, and celebrated their 51st anniversary this year. To this union two sons were born: Anthony Quinn and Bradley Dean. While Kenneth worked on farms and ranches, the couple made their home in several towns in their married life, Ogallala, North Platte and Eddyville, all in Nebraska, and in Clay Center, Kan. Kenneth got a job with the Nebraska Department of Roads in Gothenburg. He worked his way through the many jobs and finally retired as the supervisor. In 1983, the couple bought the Bowling Center in Cambridge and changed its name to Trojan Lanes in honor of the high school mascot. Kenneth loved owning his own business for 20 years and made many friends along the way. He enjoyed each day with the bowlers in the leagues. Kenneth sold Trojan Lanes, after he had open heart surgery and could no longer keep up with the long hours due to his health. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; son, Anthony “Tony” Quinn in 1989; sisters, Lorene Greeley and Vera Remington; brother, Glen Lewis; and brothers-in-law, Paul Greeley, Worth Kanost, Victor Wicke and Ed Bass. He is survived by his wife, Joanne “Jo” Lewis and son, Brad and wife Michele Lewis, all of Cambridge; brothers, Loyd and wife Doris Lewis of Lincoln, John and wife Frances Lewis of Wauneta and Jim and wife Charleen Lewis of Avoca, Iowa; sisters, Lois Kanost and Reva Wicke, both of Wauneta, and Nadine Bass of Haysville, Kan.; brothers-in-law, Richard Remington of Minden and Robert and wife Sandi Moncrief of Kearney; sisters-in-law, Charlotte and husband Tommy Palmer of Brady and Beverly and husband Gordon Fitzwater of Denver; seven grandchildren, Taylor Lewis, Jericca and husband Emil Kates, Taron Lewis, Ryann and Brady Lewis, Torey Fleischer and Trevor Fleischer; great-grandchild, Ariel Jo; and many nieces and nephews.
