He was born the oldest son and fourth child of Alton Leo and Helena Caroline (Damson) St. Clair in the badlands south of Poplar on Nov. 22, 1925. He moved with his family to East Helena in 1929. He attended school in East Helena and Helena. He joined the U.S. Navy, Jan. 2, 1943, and was deployed overseas. His mother received his diploma at graduation on June 3, 1943. He saw action in both theatres of the war. He traveled extensively seeing 61 countries while in the Navy. Kenneth was employed by ASARCO for 39 years, and in 1981 he was appointed Asarco's representative to French Morocco in Africa because of his vast knowledge and experience with the blast furnace systems used in ore refining. Many of the guys that worked for "Kenny" did not just consider him a boss but a true friend and mentor. He was Montana's first registered hunter-safety instructor; served 22 years as an East Helena volunteer firefighter; and was fire chief for nine years. Kenneth was also politically involved and was East Helena's mayor. He served three terms on the East Helena City Council and spent two years on the Lewis and Clark County planning board. He also served seven years on the Selective Board of Appeals for the local draft board for the state of Montana. He had been a member of the V.F.W. Post 10010 since it was formed. He was an assistant scout leader for a period of time and an American Red Cross instructor. In 1983 he received the Greater Helena Area's Chamber of Commerce "Employee of the Year" award which he was very surprised by and proud of. Ken has been an active member of the Good Sam Club for many years and at the time of his death was the assistant state director. Ken and Eva traveled in their motor home to 49 states and all of the Canadian providences. He always said when the bridge gets put to Hawaii, we'll be the first motor home to drive it. Ken and Eva traveled extensively building the St. Clair and Bock genealogy family books for all current and yet to come family members. Ken was an avid hunter and fisherman, and has many big game and fish trophies hanging on his walls. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, and one brother.
