Services were 10 a.m. Wednesday at United Methodist Church in Odebolt, with the Rev. DeeAnn Klapp officiating. Read More	ODEBOLT, Iowa -- Kermit Siebrecht, 88, of Odebolt died Sunday, Dec. 13, 2009, at Morningside Rehab and Care Center in Ida Grove, Iowa. Services were 10 a.m. Wednesday at United Methodist Church in Odebolt, with the Rev. DeeAnn Klapp officiating. Burial was in Odebolt Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the American Legion Roose Post 313. Born Oct. 11, 1921, on the home farm north of Odebolt, Kermit Harry Siebrecht was the son of John and Anna (Kessler) Siebrecht. He attended Richland Township Country School through the eighth grade. He then furthered hi education at Odebolt High School, graduating with the class of 1939. He farmed with his father for several years before enlisting in the U.S. Navy. He served his country during World War II before returning to Iowa, where he resumed farming. On Sept. 21, 1945, he was united in marriage to Jean Spaugh in Grants Pass, Ore. The couple made their home on the family farm north of Odebolt and raised their family of five children, Barbara, Margaret, Rebecca, Alan and Rita. Kermit was proud that the farm was honored as a Century Farm. He was a member of United Methodist Church in Odebolt, where over the years he participated on many boards and committees. He also was a member of the American Legion Roose Post 313, Eastern Star, Wheeler Lodge 398 and Disabled American Veterans. He currently served on the board of Sac County Mutual Telephone Company. In earlier years, he was on the Sac County REC board and the Odebolt-Arthur School board. He enjoyed gardening and watching sporting events on the television. His greatest joy was his family, especially his grandchildren. He spent many happy hours on the tractor, always finding pleasure in working the land. Survivors include his wife, Jean; four children, Barbara (James) Jensen of Onawa, Iowa, Rebecca (Mike) Carstensen of Schaller, Iowa, Alan (Pat) Siebrecht of Ida Grove, Iowa, and Rita (Steve) Jensen of Sioux City; 11 grandchildren, Susanna Hogancamp, Amelia Walker, Jason Pepper, Adam, Andy and Alex Carstensen, Grant Siebrecht, Courtney Lennon, Kristy Siebrecht and Luc and Zach Jensen; two stepgrandchildren, David Jensen and Laura Streck; nine great-grandchildren; three great-stepgrandchildren; two sisters, Shirley (Lloyd) Rickers of Kiron, Iowa, and Joan (Dick) Grosnickle of Arizona; a brother, Robert (Mary Louise) Siebrecht of Odebolt; many nieces and nephews; and other extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Hilma Siebrecht; a daughter, Margaret Siebrecht; a grandson, Ben Pepper; an infant grandson; an infant sister, Roberta Siebrecht; and two brothers, Lloyd and Merle Siebrecht.
