Father Jerome Spenner officiated with burial in the parish cemetery. Military honors were given by VFW Post 1151 of Creighton. Pallbearers were his grandchildren. Kocina, the son of Joseph F. and Mary (Shaffer) Kocina, was born January 25, 1922 at Creighton. Following graduation from St. Ludger High School in 1939, he attended business college, and later, Randall School of Real Estate. The WWII veteran served in the U.S. Navy from 1941 to 1945. Following his return he married Mary Harty on August 29, 1946. He was associated with his father's John Deere Implement dealership and worked the family farm. He was a former co-owner of the Creighton Livestock Market and owner of Kocina Realty Co. He was employed as a counselor at Methodist Hospital in Omaha until 1986, when he retired in Creighton. Kevin served on the first Board of Directors of Lundberg Memorial Hospital and was a member of the VFW Post 1151 and St. Ludger Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, Mary, of Creighton; three daughters and spouses, Lynn and Dr. Bill Birkby of Columbia, Missouri, Kay and Dr. Armand Pulcinella of Baltimore, Maryland, and Margie Kocina of Santa Cruz, California and seven grandchildren.
