Description	:	Kimberly Ellen Carden Mitchell passed away on November 30, 2021 at the age of 61. She has now joined the love of her life in Heaven. Kim was born on October 21, 1960, in Charleston WV. She was a graduate of Scott High School and West Virginia State University where she received degrees in both History and Education. Kim was a longtime member of Madison Methodist Church. She has now joined the love of her life in Heaven. Kim was born on October 21, 1960, in Charleston WV. She was a graduate of Scott High School and West Virginia State University where she received degrees in both History and Education. Kim was a longtime member of Madison Methodist Church. She spent many years working for the WV Division of Natural Resources before deciding to pursue her true calling, teaching. Kim's passion for teaching and student interaction was obvious to anyone who met her. Kim thought of her students as her own. She spent years teaching kids about civics and government and took great pride in knowing she passed her wisdom along to her students. She carried them in her heart always. Kim was an advocate of the Arts, loved live theater, books and music. As a student of history and teacher of civics, Kim enjoyed a hearty exchange of ideas with friends and former students on the social and political issues of the day. She was witty, intelligent, compassionate, generous, and ferociously protective of her family, friends and students. Not to mention a few feral cats. Kim married Rex Mitchell in December of 1990 and they spent 34 years together. She is proceeded in death by her parents, Mary and David Carden and her Husband, Rex Mitchell. Kim is survived by her greatest joy and accomplishment, her daughters, Alison Mitchell of Charleston, WV, and Mackenzie Mitchell of Madison, WV and her step-daughter Misty (Dave) Galbraith of Denver, CO. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Lisa Carden of Danville, WV and her nieces and nephews, Kelsey Scott of Columbus, OH, Kali Scott of Huntington, WV, and Reece Carden of Danville, WV. The family would also like to acknowledge Kim's lifelong friends who were more like family, Sandy Brown and Kim Pearcy both of Charleston, WV. There will be a celebration of life this Sunday, December 5th at 2 pm at Madison Methodist Church. The family will have a private graveside service at a later date.
