His exact age at death was 86 years, three months and 27 days. He was born Kirk Alexander McCall in Wezanwega [editor: Weyauwega?], Wisconsin, on August 24, 1864. In 1887 he came to Nebraska, settling first near St Paul and in 1889 he came to the spot where Oshkosh is now located and managed a store during the winter after having helped the Gumaer brothers with their cattle in the summer. After working for Robinson and Gumaer for several year he went to Chappell where he served as county clerk of Deuel county for two years. From 1888 to 1895 he owned and operated a drug store in the Oshkosh locality. On November 16, 1898 he was united in marriage to Miss Pearl Jensen with Rev. Clary of Ash Hollow performing the ceremony. To this union two children were born, a son, John A. of Lewellen and a daughter. Mrs Helen Foze Curtis, Omaha. In 1905 he returned to his former home in Wisconsin and continued to make his home there until 1917. In that year he moved back to Lewellen where he became manager of the Sterling Lumber company. After five years at this work he moved to a farm east of Oshkosh and remained there until 1930 when he retired and moved to Lewellen. Besides his widow and children he is survived by five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, one brother, John of Waupaca, Wisconsin, three sisters and many other relatives. Final rites were held Sunday afternoon at the Lutheran church in Lewellen with Rev. W C. Heidenreich officiating. Burial was in the Ash Hollow cemetery.
