Read More	KNUTE HOLUM PASSES AWAY HEART TROUBLE IMMEDIATE CAUSE OF DEATH-FUNERAL TO BE HELD SATURDAY Knute Holum, one of the county's most substantial citizens and a prosperous and highly successful farmer, residing near James, passed away Wednesday at an Aberdeen hospital, where he was taken a few days ago for medical treatment. The cause of his death was heart trouble. Mr. Holum had not been in the best of health for the past three or four years, although with the exception of a few brief periods he had been able to supervise the work on his farm with his usual thoroughness and efficiency. While his friends knew that his condition was not satisfactory, they were not prepared for the stunning schock received when his death became known, Wednesday. Mr. Holum was a native of this section, having been born and raised in this county and spent his entire life in the teritory adjacent to this city. He was born July 31, 1882, during pioneer days and the hardihood and spirit of his parents were reflected in his personality, balancing as it were, pioneer conservatism and the impulse of youth for too rapid expansion. This notable heritage, coupled with a profound knowledge of the country, its capabilities, possibilities and hard work all contributed to a highly successful career as an agriculturist, while the foundation of his character gave birth to a citizen of extraordinary manhood. He was married June 10, 1914, to Miss Gusta Olson at Decorah, Iowa, and to this union four children were born, two of whom have passed away. The survivors are his wife, and a son and daughter, Kenneth and Ruth. The latter is at home while Kenneth is a student at Augustana college, Sioux Falls. Four sisters are also left to mourn his loss, Misses Trena and Anna Holum of Aberdeen; Mrs. Olaf Hundstad of Aberdeen; Mrs. John Torgerson, of Ellendale, Minn. The brothers are Gilbert Holum of Groton, and John of Granville, N. D. The funeral will be held Saturday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock from the First English Lutheran church, Groton, of which he was a deacon and one of its founders. The obsequies will be conducted by Rev. Melford S. Knutson, and the remains laid to rest in Groton cemetery.
