Description	:	Kristian (Krist) Bratlien was born in Norder Land, Norway, in the year 1874. He came to Pope County, MN, with his widowed mother, brothers Tollef and Erick, and his sister, Gunhild, in the year 1883. In 1903, he and his two brothers came to what was then Williams County to file on a homestead located in Section 24 in Border Township. He spent the required time on his claim set by the Homestead Act and then returned to maintain the home farm in Minnesota. In 1910 he married Inga Dokken from Norway. The following year he took an emigrant car on... Read More	Kristian (Krist) Bratlien was born in Norder Land, Norway, in the year 1874. He came to Pope County, MN, with his widowed mother, brothers Tollef and Erick, and his sister, Gunhild, in the year 1883. In 1903, he and his two brothers came to what was then Williams County to file on a homestead located in Section 24 in Border Township. He spent the required time on his claim set by the Homestead Act and then returned to maintain the home farm in Minnesota. In 1910 he married Inga Dokken from Norway. The following year he took an emigrant car on the Soo Line filled with horses, cattle, chickens, machinery and household goods, along with his wife and small child. They settled on the North Dakota homestead where he lived continuously until he passed from this life in the fall of 1960. His widow, a son Theodore, and a daughter Clara, continued residing on the homestead after his death. Eleven children were born to this family, six daughters and five sons. Most of them later moved to the West Coast.
