From Nevada Evening Journal February 6, 1935 (page 3) Funeral Services Held Here Monday for Mrs. Round Funeral services for Mrs. Christina Round, 91, who died at the home of a daughter in Des Moines Saturday, were held at the Memorial Lutheran church, Nevada, Monday, February 4, after which the body was laid to rest in the Nevada cemetery by the side of her husband Thomas (Rayn) Round, who died December 19, 1902. The services which were largely attended, were in charge of Dr. J. O. Simon, pastor of the church. Six grandsons of the deceased served as pallbearers. They were Nate Round, Tommy Round, Berlin Illingsworth, Luther Sutherland, Dorrell Sutherland and William Illingsworth, all of Des Moines. Kysten Johnson was born in Schleswig, Holstein, Denmark, January 26, 1844. She was married to Thomas Round, March 1871. They came to this country 62 years ago and she has been a resident of Story county since that time, with the exception of a few years spent in New Jersey and Illinois. Mr. Round passed away Dec. 19, 1902. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and at the time of her death was a member of Memorial Lutheran church at Nevada. She leaves to mourn her passing, four daughters, Mrs. Clint Godfrey of Nevada, Mrs. Myron Illingsworth, Mrs. Wm. Kepke and Mrs. Richard Trussell all of Des Moines, four sons, Ever T. of Cambridge, Mates of Mankato, Minn., and Peter and Thomas Round of Des Moines. Besides these there are 20 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Mrs. Round was the last of a family of eight children. She was 91 years of age at the time of her death and had been in excellent health until two months ago when she became ill and passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Illingsworth, Feb. 2, 1935. She was a loving mother and was loved not only by her children but by every one who came to know her. She will be missed not only by her children but by a large number of her friends. Nels Larson, living in the north part of town, is the only person living to remember coming over from Denmark with Mr. and Mrs. Round and their eldest son E. T. Round.
