Wayne was born in Prattville, Ala. on Dec. 4, 1933, to Lloyd Hubert Collum and Geraldine Nunn Collum. When Wayne was 16, he moved to Daytona Beach, Fla. with his father, where he attended and graduated high school at Mainland High School in 1952. In 1951, he joined the U.S. Naval Reserves, which he served through 1959. He is a veteran of the Korean conflict. He married his high school sweetheart, Mary Parker in 1953. To this union was born two daughters, Mary Kathryn and Dawn Elizabeth. Wayne always had a love to come west since he was child. His first trip to Montana was a hunting trip. He always knew he would come back to this area. In 1973, his dream came true to move here and he also married the love of his life, Sharon Simons on Oct. 6. They have two daughters, Lisa Heather and Tara Jo. In 1976, he started work at Chemetron Rail Plant in Laurel and worked there for 10 years. In 1987, he went to work for Decker Coal in Decker, Mont., as a Plant Oiler. In 1996, he retired as a result of rheumatoid arthritis. After he retired, he worked for the Stillwater County Solid Waste Department as a site attendant. The last six years he spent doing what he loved best, gardening, working crossword puzzles and doing things for his girls who were the loves of his life. Wayne was a member of AA in Laurel and was proud of his 19 years of sobriety. He never met a stranger and if he did, they weren't for long. He always loved to tell you a good story. He also was proud of his Irish heritage and his one year he spent in Australia, always vowing to go back. Wayne is survived by his wife, Sharon of the family home; his four daughters, Lisa Heather Knutson (Craig) of Billings, Tara Jo and boyfriend, Jason Frank, Kathy Collins of Hobe Sound, Fla., Dawn Jaconis of Orange City, Fla.; his sister, Ginger Collum of Prattville, Ala.; his brother, Eddie Bishop (Dawn) of Morrow, Ga.; special nephews that were like his sons, Jerry Collum (Kate) of Seattle, Rick Collum of Morrow, Alex Collum of Dallas; six grandchildren; many more nieces and nephews; and also many young people and their children he adopted along the way as their Papa. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 25, at the Park City Baptist Church. Interment will follow at the Park City Cemetery. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials are made to the Park City Baptist Church or the Park City Volunteer Fire Department.
