Description	:	Lafayette H. (Fate) Duvic, a resident of Monte Vista since 1893, died Sunday at his home at 412 Jefferson. He had been in failing health for several months. Mr. Duvic was born Dec. 10, 1876, in Frederickstown, Mo., and came to Monte Vista in 1893. He was married in 1902 to Eva E. Kennedy, who survives him. (Fate) Duvic, a resident of Monte Vista since 1893, died Sunday at his home at 412 Jefferson. He had been in failing health for several months. Mr. Duvic was born Dec. 10, 1876, in Frederickstown, Mo., and came to Monte Vista in 1893. He was married in 1902 to Eva E. Kennedy, who survives him. When he first came to Monte Vista, he worked as a janitor of a school building and attended classes. He then worked as an apprentice printer on the San Luis Valley Graphic, and for 15 years was employed on the paper. After spending a few years in California, he returned here and for 50 years was a plastering contractor. He was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and of the I.O.O.F. In addition to his wife, Mr. Duvic is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Taylor of Grand Junction, Mrs. Robert Nelson of Castro Valley, Calif., and Mrs. Ben Kuns of Englewood, Calif.; one son, Paul Duvic of Seattle, Wash.; ten grandchildren, one great-grandchild; and two sisters, Mrs. Ernest Faus of Portland, Ore., and Mrs. J.M. Caldwell of California. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Woods Memorial Chapel by the Rev. Whitmer of Denver. Mrs. Edward Sharp was organist, and she and Mrs. W.W. Wadleigh sang a duet, "Beyond the Sunset". Mrs. Wadleigh also sang a solo, "Abide With Me". Active pallbearers were Lute Popejoy, John Getz, Gene Davis, John Pierson, Roy Shay and Eben Millis. Honorary pallbearers were Early Wiley, Henry Frownfelter, Robert Watson, Ike Lancaster, John Crook and Merwin Metz. The I.O.O.F. conducted services at the grave, and burial was in Monte Vista Cemetery.
