They had a son, Carl. ---------- Lale Goldson Padget was born on September 7, 1907, to father Wilmer Wilton Padget and mother Edith Lillian (Carruthers) Padget in Union Township (today known as Troy), Iowa. The Padget family consisted of seven children, of which Lale was second oldest. His siblings included: Clell Monroe (b. 1905), Barbara (b. 1912), Reva (b. 1913), Vetra Melrose (b. 1916), Paul (b. 1918), and Charles (b. 1921). By 1913, the Padget family had settled in Ottumwa, Iowa. On February 9, 1928, Lale married Bertha Gladys Hedges. Together, they had two children: Ellen Louise (b. 1929) and Esther Evelyn (b. 1931). Lale and his wife and children lived in Blackhawk, Richland, and Fairfield. Bertha died unexpectedly on September 4, 1931. A single father raising two girls while trying to run a farm, Lale remarried on January 27, 1934 in Schuyler, Missouri, to Ola Herbert. Together, they had four children, adding to Lale's family of two girls and Ola's four children (two boys and two girls) from her previous marriage to Clarence Ritz. Lale and Ola raised their family of ten children in rural Wapello and Davis counties. Lale died on January 3, 1987, in Bloomfield, Iowa, at the age of 79. He was buried at Floris Cemetery in Floris, Davis County, Iowa.
