Description	:	LaMoyne Udell Knutson was born December 1, 1924 in Wakonda, SD to parents Lewis and Judith (Olson) Knutson. He died July 26, 2009 at the Good Samaritan Center in Centerville, SD at the age of 84 years, 7 months and 25 days. LaMoyne served in the United States Army from 1943 to 1945 and was stationed in Japan during World War II. He married the love of his life, Darlene Tieman on March 1, 1946 in Sioux Falls, SD. He died July 26, 2009 at the Good Samaritan Center in Centerville, SD at the age of 84 years, 7 months and 25 days. LaMoyne served in the United States Army from 1943 to 1945 and was stationed in Japan during World War II. He married the love of his life, Darlene Tieman on March 1, 1946 in Sioux Falls, SD. He farmed in the Dalesburg community for nearly 50 years until retiring and moving into Centerville in 1989. LaMoyne was baptized and confirmed at Pleasant Valley Lutheran Church and later became a member of First English Lutheran Church in Centerville. He was a member of the Centerville American Legion and the Beresford VFW. LaMoyne enjoyed playing cards with his family and friends and also liked Bingo. He loved horses and loved to tell horse stories as well. He was most famous for his story about dynamite on the 4th of July many years ago. After he moved into Centerville he and Marvin Nelson went to countless places for coffee every day. LaMoyne wrote in a journal everyday and enjoyed drawing and doodling on paper. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Bruce, sister Mercedes Jensen and brother Luther. Grateful for sharing his life are his wife Darlene of Centerville; daughter Julie Stromberg and husband Curt of Braham, MN; three sons: Gary and wife Eleanor, Alan and wife Doris and Kendell and wife Patty all of Centerville; daughter-in-law Monika of Elk Point, SD; 15 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM, Thursday, July 30, 2009 at First English Lutheran Church, Centerville, with burial at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, rural Wakonda. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4PM to 8PM with family present from 6PM to 8PM at Wass Funeral Home in Centerville. [Courtesy: Wass Home for Funerals]
