Read More	The Sabetha Herald, Wednesday, October 17, 1951 3 Year Old Dies In Tragic Accident Larry Dale Campbell, not quite three years old, son of Mr. and Mrs. Emery Campbell, Jr., was killed instantly Thursday morning around 9 o'clock. The tragic accident occurred as the child was racing over to greet his father who was driving his truck into the farmyard. Exactly what happened is not certain but later conjecture indicated that the chubby 3-year-old had stumbled just before he reached the truck and had plunged his head against a wheel or the side of the truck. Mr. Campbell, who never saw his son coming drove on into the farmyard and went into the barn to let out the cattle. He returned and climbed onto his tractor before seeing the boy lying on the ground. Racing over he picked the boy up and drove him to the hospital but Larry Dale was dead when he arrived at the hospital. Mrs. Campbell had been outside hanging up clothes on the south side of the house while her son was playing. His toys were on the north side of the house and although she noticed his disappearance she believed he must be playing with the toys. There is a small mound of ground next to the road and it is believed the young fellow may have tripped on the ground just before reaching the truck. The only mark on the boy's body was on his head, which was crushed. Mr. and Mrs. Campbell live on a farm near Woodlawn, seven miles south and two and a half west of Sabetha. Larry Dale was their only child.
