He was baptized at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Norfolk on May 27, 1956. He was confirmed at St. Paul's on May 23, 1971. Larry attended school at St. Paul's Lutheran School and graduated from Norfolk Senior High in 1975 where he was involved in FFA. In his life, Larry had various jobs that included working with his family's auction service, agriculture, construction and retail. He also operated his own lawn mowing and snow removal business. Larry attended school at St. Paul's Lutheran School and graduated from Norfolk Senior High in 1975 where he was involved in FFA. In his life, Larry had various jobs that included working with his family's auction service, agriculture, construction and retail. He also operated his own lawn mowing and snow removal business. Slim enjoyed many hobbies, including hunting, playing softball, participating in rodeos, attending livestock auctions, watching NASCAR, skiing, raising livestock and golfing. Larry especially enjoyed fishing and ice fishing on his lake with his family and friends and spending time with his dog, Tuffy. Survivors include his mother, Darlene Bretschneider of Norfolk; siblings Carol and Keith Rasmussen of Pierce, Gary and Sue Bretschneider of Norfolk, Cheryl and Eric Kregel of Newcastle, Wyo., and Dave and Eileen Bretschneider of Bemidji, Minn.; 13 nieces and nephews, 21 great-nieces and great-nephews, aunts and uncles, cousins and close friends. Larry was preceded in death by his father, Arnold Bretschneider, an infant brother, brother Terry, nephew Bret Rasmussen, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.
