Larry was born on November 22, 1933 in Gosper County, Nebraska, the eighth of nine children of Richard M. and Hattie C. (Koitsch) Debban. He was baptized south of Elwood at Salem Lutheran Church and confirmed at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church of Elwood. He graduated from Elwood High School in 1951. Larry was united in marriage to Janet C. Wortman on June 14, 1953 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1954 during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1956. Larry worked for the State of Nebraska Department of Roads until he retired in 1995. Larry enjoyed his family and was always ready to help them with their projects. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, gardening and having coffee with his buddies. Larry leaves to mourn his wife, Janet, 2 sons and 3 daughters; Cheryl Taft and her husband Dale of Elwood, Steve Debban and his wife Terrie of Kearney, Terry Debban of Funk, Kim Soderholm and her husband Tom of Holdrege, and Dee Steinshouer and her husband Russ of Holdrege, 8 grandchildren; Derek Taft and wife Amy of North Platte, Drew Taft and special friend, Melissa Patterson of Hastings, Brett and Zach Debban of Kearney, Brad Soderholm of Holdrege, Jason and wife Kerissa Steinshouer of Arlington, Virginia, Joni Collins and husband Rye of Waverly, Lance Steinshouer of Holdrege, 2 great-grandchildren; Brianna Taft of North Platte and Kasyn Collins of Waverly, brother; Randall and wife Meridee of Holdrege, sister; Inez Lierman and husband Gib of Hastings, 2 sisters-in-law; Gwen Debban of Omaha and Edee Thinnes of Lexington, special family friend Bob Salisbury of Lexington and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Richard, Dale and Roger, and sisters; Fern Schultz, Berniece Fleischer and Norma Thinnes and their husbands.
