Description	:	PONCA, Neb. -- Larry William Bauman of rural Martinsburg passed away peacefully Sunday, Dec. 9, 2007, at Elms Care Center in Ponca. Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca, with the Rev. Sara Simmons of Ponca United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Ponca City Cemetery, with military rites. The body was cremated. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Ponca City Cemetery, with military rites. The body was cremated. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home. Larry was born April 23, 1931, approximately two miles east of Ponca, to James J. and Helen L. (Beller) Bauman. He attended first grade in the Martinsburg Public School and attended various country schools in the Martinsburg and Ponca area. The family moved to Ponca in 1942, when he was in the sixth grade. He graduated from Ponca High School in 1948. He joined the U.S. Navy the next day and served four years in the Naval Air. He served two years during the Korean Conflict and was discharged in May 1952. He worked as a bartender and bar manager for nine years at the Ponca Liquor Store. He applied for and was accepted as a state conservation officer for the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission on April 17, 1961, where he worked for 36 years. On Nov. 25, 1975, he married Marian (Leigh) Brennan. She had four children. He leaves to mourn, his mother, Helen Bauman of Ponca; a brother and his wife, Jim and Nancy Bauman of Redding, Calif.; brothers-in-law, John Schultz of Cypress, Calif., and Joe McArdle of Ponca; three stepsons, Mike Brennan, John Brennan and his wife, Becky, all of Ponca and Jim Brennan of Atkinson, Neb.; a stepdaughter, JoAnn Brennan of Ponca; two stepgrandchildren, Molly Brennan-Egdorf and her husband, Rusty and their son, Charles and Emily Brennan, all of Ponca; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, James Bauman; and three sisters, Carole McArdle, Mary Lou Schultz and Sandra Wright. www.siouxcityjournal.com
