Read More	The Stratford Courier, May 21, 1908 As we go to press we learn that Lars Fallein passed away at his home near Mineral Ridge. *** The Stratford Courier, May 28, 1908 Obituary Fallein. Lars Fallein, was born in Sweden, December 23, 1820 and died May 20, 1908, at the ripe age of 87 years, 4 months and 27 days. He was married in Sweden to Anna Erickson in the summer of 1849 and to this union was born two sons and three daughters, one son and one daughter having gone before him to the far beyond. In 1887 he, with his family, came to America and settled in Galesburg, Ills., living there four months. In the spring 1858 he moved to Webster county, Iowa, living there until February 1859 when he moved to Boone county, living there until the winter of 1865. He then moved into Hamilton county, living alternately in these two counties until 1891 when he moved into Stratford. Here he lived until three years ago and then moved to his daughters, Mrs. Wm. Wilson, home, where he lived at the time of his death. He leaves to mourn his death an aged wife, one son and two daughters, twenty-five grandchildren and 16 great grand-children besides a host of old friends. About four years ago deceased was stricken with blindness and since that time it has been seen that he has failed rapidly in health. He was the second of two of this counties oldest pioneers to be called Home within two days of one another. Being one of the earlier settlers he, too, knew what the trials of a home in the wilderness was and his lot like many of that time, was an exceedingly hard one. But that sturdy manhood which then thrived to such a great extent in this state kept him going and he lived to see the day when Iowa stands at the head of the states. The funeral services were held Saturday afternoon from the home of Mrs. Wm Wilson at Mineral Ridge and the remains interred in the Mineral Ridge cemetery. Rev. Tingley of Boone being in charge.
