Laura was born on April 5, 1915, in Billings, to Effie Nettles Edgmond and William J. Edgmond. She grew up on the Huntley Project with six brothers and sisters, all of whom preceded her in death, except her younger sister, Eva Pearson of Billings. Laura was born on April 5, 1915, in Billings, to Effie Nettles Edgmond and William J. Edgmond. She grew up on the Huntley Project with six brothers and sisters, all of whom preceded her in death, except her younger sister, Eva Pearson of Billings. Laura married Benjamin Burkart in September of 1939. They raised two children, Gary Lee Burkart (Monica) of Shell Lake, Wis., and Vicky Lynn Roda of Sacramento, Calif. Benjamin died in 1988. Laura worked for many years in Billings drugstores, specializing in cosmetics. In later years, she bowled until the age of 95. She was a founding member of the Big Sky Polka Club, and enjoyed nearly 20 years of dancing with her partner, Jerry Hein. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 29, at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary, 1001 Alderson Ave., Billings. Interment will be in the Edgmond Family plot in Pleasantview Cemetery, Ballantine, MT. A reception will be held following the service in the community room of Magic City Terrace, located at 1439 Main Street, Billings Heights. Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary has charge of arrangements.
