Description	:	The Eureka Herald, Nov. 25, 1993 Laura Elizabeth Mack, 77, died Friday, Nov. 19, 1993 at the Greenwood County Hospital in Eureka. Laura was born August 4, 1916, the daughter of Frederick Anthony and Maude Lilian Wickerham Kays. At an early age Laura moved with her family to Neal and later to a farm west of Eureka. Read More	The Eureka Herald, Nov. 25, 1993 Laura Elizabeth Mack, 77, died Friday, Nov. 19, 1993 at the Greenwood County Hospital in Eureka. Laura was born August 4, 1916, the daughter of Frederick Anthony and Maude Lilian Wickerham Kays. At an early age Laura moved with her family to Neal and later to a farm west of Eureka. She graduated from Eureka High School in 1934 where she was a National Honor Society student. She attended Kansas State Teachers College at Emporiat, majoring in Elementary Education. On June 10, 1939 Laura was united in marriage to Leslie Carl Mack at the United Methodist Church in Eureka. To this union three children were born. After living in Wichita for six years, Les and Laura began farming near Eureka. In the spring of 1949 they moved to a farm near Piedmont where they lived for twenty years. In 1953 she began teaching vocal music at the Piedmont Grade School and later taught Kindergarten as well as music at the Severy Grade School. After teaching at Severy for thirteen years, Laura began teaching at Eureka and remained there until her retirement. Laura was member of the UMW in the Severy United Methodist Church. She also served as a Sunday School teacher and held several positions in the church. She was a member of the Severy Senior Center, the Retired Teachers Association and Severy Outlook Club. Laura is survived by two sons, Micheal of Blue Springs, MO and Brian of Spring Hill; one daughter Diana Young of Stanwood, WA; two brothers Fred Kays of Martinez, GA and Dean Kays of Claremont, CA; three sisters: Pat Ludlam of Evans, CO; Jean McGown of Aurora, MO; and Lois Kelley of Las Vegan, NV; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and a brother Bob Kays. Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 22 at the Severy United Methodist Church with Rev. Jan Kindwoman officiating. Interment followed in the Greenwood Cemetery at Eureka.
