Description	:	Laura Emeline Kerr, the youngest daughter of Jennings Bankson Kerr and the former Miss Arpeliza Jane Walkup five children, was born on the 28th day of April 1840. She grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina; where her father was mayor from 1859 - 1861 and held the office of Clerk of the Superior Court, Mecklenburg County for 27 years. On May 11th 1864, Laura married Captain Frederick (Frank) Stanley DeWolfe, who was a Captain and Adj Inspector General in the Confederate Army. She grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina; where her father was mayor from 1859 - 1861 and held the office of Clerk of the Superior Court, Mecklenburg County for 27 years. On May 11th 1864, Laura married Captain Frederick (Frank) Stanley DeWolfe, who was a Captain and Adj Inspector General in the Confederate Army. He had obtained his commission and appointment from the Confederate Secretary of War. Before the war ended, he resigned from the Confederate Army for medical reasons. Three daughters graced this union: Louisiana "Louise" (1865 – 1933) Nancy Brown "Nannie" (1871 – 1915) Josephine Sloan (1873 – 1953) Laura and Frank DeWolfe stayed in Charlotte after the war, where he became active in the local politics. Frank was elected mayor of Charlotte in 1876-1880. Around 1883, the DeWolfe's moved to Seattle, Washington, where they remained the rest of their lives. Laura Emeline Kerr DeWolfe departed this life on the 6th of March 1898 at the age of 57. She is buried in Lake View Cemetery beside her husband, Frederick Stanley DeWolfe.
