Description	:	Frederick Stanley DeWolfe, son of Frederick DeWolfe and the former Miss Louisiana Armstrong, was born July 3rd 1832 in Rogersville, Tennessee. Known as Frank by his family, he and his brother & sister were orphaned in 1839 after the death of his father and his mother in 1835. He lived with is step-mother; who made sure that he got a good education. Read More	Frederick Stanley DeWolfe, son of Frederick DeWolfe and the former Miss Louisiana Armstrong, was born July 3rd 1832 in Rogersville, Tennessee. Known as Frank by his family, he and his brother & sister were orphaned in 1839 after the death of his father and his mother in 1835. He lived with is step-mother; who made sure that he got a good education. In his early teens, Frank DeWolfe ran a stage line between Bristol, Virginia and Knoxville, TN; until the Civil War broke out, In 1861, he was commissioned an officer in the Confederate States Gen. & Staff Infantry Regiment, as a Captain. He had obtained his commission and appointment from the Confederate Secretary of War, James A. Seddon. Before the war ended, he resigned from the Confederate Army for medical reasons. After the war, Frank settled in Charlotte, North Carolina and soon married Miss Laura Emeline Kerr, the youngest daughter of Jennings Banks Kerr and the former Miss Arpeliza Jane Walkup. Mr. Kerr was a former Mayor of Charlotte prior to the war. Three daughters graced this union: Louisiana "Louise" (1865 – 1933) Nancy Brown "Nannie" (1871 – 1915) Josephine Sloan (1873 – 1953) Frank and Laura DeWolfe lived in Charlotte; where he became active in the local politics. Frank was elected mayor of Charlotte from 1876 to 1880. Around 1883, the DeWolfe's moved to Seattle, Washington, where they remained the rest of their lives. Frederick Stanley DeWolfe departed this life on the 19th of February 1919 at the age of 86. He is buried in Lake View Cemetery beside his wife, Laura Emeline Kerr DeWolfe.
