Description	:	Laura Etta (Lauretta) Jordan was the daughter of John William Jordan and Martha Henderson. She was born 18 Sept 1863 in Warren County, Indiana. At the age of one year she came with her parents to Fremont County, Iowa, where they settled east of Sidney on what is now known as the Jordan hill. She was living with her sister and family in Stanton County, Nebraska in the 1900 Census. It was there she met Mark Simonton, and they married 15 Mar 1905 at Creston, Nebraska. She was born 18 Sept 1863 in Warren County, Indiana. At the age of one year she came with her parents to Fremont County, Iowa, where they settled east of Sidney on what is now known as the Jordan hill. She was living with her sister and family in Stanton County, Nebraska in the 1900 Census. It was there she met Mark Simonton, and they married 15 Mar 1905 at Creston, Nebraska. They lived in Nebraska several years and then moved to South Dakota. In the fall of 1917 they moved to Mills County, Iowa, where they settled on a farm. Mark died in 1919 at the age of 51 years. After his death Lauretta moved to Anderson, Iowa, which is northeast of Sidney. She lived in Anderson the remainder of her life except for the last few months. Lauretta died in 1945 at the age of 81 years 9 months 9 days. NOTE: I believe the year of birth (1867) on her headstone is incorrect. Her obituary states year of birth 1863. 1863 matches her age and order of birth on all census years. She was born in Indiana (per obituary and census) and younger siblings were born in Sidney.
