Death was caused by tuberculosis. She had been in failing health for some time and in September her condition became critical. She went to Ames, where she was tenderly cared for by her niece and family, but she grew gradually weaker until death relieved her suffering Monday evening. The remains were brought to Boone Tuesday evening and the funeral services were held from the First M.E. church at 1:30 o’clock Thursday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. W.G. Hohanshelt of Chariton, former pastor of the church here and attended by a host of sorrowing relatives and friends. The remains were laid to rest in the Bass Point cemetery. Obituary at a later date. Boone County Democrat December 16, 1910 Miss Laura I. Wahl, whose death was mentioned last week and who was buried here Thursday, was the daughter of Lawrence and Margaret (Miller) Wahl, pioneer residents of Des Moines Township. She was born in Des Moines Township February 14, 1862, and died at the home of her niece, Mrs. Byron Seymour, in Ames, Iowa, Monday evening, December 5, 1910, aged forty eight years, nine months and four days. She grew to young womanhood on the farm and in 1887 removed with her parents to Boone, where they continued to reside until the death of her aged parents, who passed away within a couple of days of each other three years ago this coming January, and were buried together. For many years she was a devoted member and supporter of the first M.E. church of this city; quiet and unassuming yet ever alert to commit some charitable and kindly set to those about her. Her death was caused by tubercular trouble of the liver and bowels, with which she had been a patient sufferer for several months. She never murmured during her suffering and seemed eager to join the loved ones gone before. She was conscious to the last and with a clear mind made all her wishes known regarding the funeral and burial. The funeral services were held from the First M.E. church at 1:30 o’clock Thursday afternoon, conducted by the pastor, rev. Myers and by the former pastor, Rev. W.G Hohanshelt, who came from Chariton for the purpose at the request of the deceased. The remains followed by a large concourse of sorrowing friends to their last resting place in the family lot in the Bass Point cemetery. She is survived by one brother, L.W. Wahl, of Boone, and three sisters, Mrs. Amelia Doran, of Ontario, Mrs. Emma Wheeler, of St. Paul and Mrs. Mary Scott, of Kiona, Washington, all of whom were present at the funeral and to whom is extended the earnest sympathy of a host of friends in their bereavement.
