Read More	From the Baxter Springs Citizen Monday, 16 September 1947 Page 1, column 7 RIVERS FUNERAL IS HELD SUNDAY Elderly Woman Succumbs in Columbus Hospital of Injuries Suffered in Accident Funeral services for Mrs. Laura Isabell Rivers, 89, of Route 3, who died Friday morning at the City hospital in Columbus of injuries received in a car-truck collision one-half mile north of Keelville Tuesday morning, were held at the Faulkner Christian church Sunday afternoon. Burial was in Fly Creek cemetery. The accident happened with a car driven by Miss Helen Brown, in which Mrs. Rivers was riding, and a truck driven by J. M. Roper collided, according to officers of the sheriff's force. Mrs. Rivers suffered fractures to both legs, and lacerations and bruises on her left side and face. She had been a resident of Kansas most of her life. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Fred Brown; a brother, Robert Ross, who lives in Oklahoma; a sister, Mrs. Ida Moore of Grenola, Kansas; five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Others injured in the accident and later dismissed from the hospital after treatment were Miss Helen Brown, driver of the car, Mrs. O. Kelley, about 25, and Mrs. Fred Brown, 65, mother of Miss Brown and daughter of Mrs. Rivers. They all live on Route 3, Baxter Springs.
