Description	:	DEATH OF A GOOD WOMAN. Laura Virginia, wife of Mr. John W. Seakford, died at her home near Alma, Page county, Va, June 17, 1904, aged 57 years and 20 days, after an illness of nearly three years. Just two years from the day she died she returned from a Baltimore hospital, where she was told by the physicians they could give her no relief. During these two years she was a great sufferer. Laura Virginia, wife of Mr. John W. Seakford, died at her home near Alma, Page county, Va, June 17, 1904, aged 57 years and 20 days, after an illness of nearly three years. Just two years from the day she died she returned from a Baltimore hospital, where she was told by the physicians they could give her no relief. During these two years she was a great sufferer. She bore it all with Christian fortitude. In November, 1896, she was baptized into the fellowship of Alma Primitive Baptist church by Elder T. S. Dalton, who was then her pastor. She ever afterward gave unmistakable evidence that she had been with Jesus and learned of Him. It was the privilege of the writer to be often in the home of this truly good woman. Though she had the care of a large family she has always found time to entertain her friends, which she did with an unstinted hand. At the request of the family the following persons acted as pall-bearers: Messrs. Isaac Koontz, Alfred Koontz, John S. Lillard, John W. Jenkins, L. M Frank, and J. W. Wood. Her pastor, Elder J. R. Daily, delivered a splendid funeral discourse from first Thessalonians, 4th chapter and 14th verse. The congregation was the largest we ever saw at a country funeral. Beside a grief-stricken husband she leaves the following children; Mrs. Ora Painter, of this county; Mrs. Ada Evans, of Baltimore; Mrs. Brownie Berry, of Port Norris, N. J.; Misses Nina and Lily and Messrs. Wheeler and Benjamin at home, to all of whom we would say your wife and mother is not dead but only beginning to live, and if you live the life she lived you will meet her, never more to be separated. She sweetly sleeps in Alma cemetery by the side of her daughter, Mattie, who preceded her several years to the spirit world. A Friend. Luray, Va. Page Courier, June 23, 1904
