Read More	Laurence Wissink, 74, of Sibley died Tuesday, Dec. 5, at the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley. Graveside services were held prior to the memorial service at the Hope Cemetery of Hull. Laurence "Larry" Wissink was the son of Henry and Lydia (Essink) Wissink. His family moved from Nebraska to Hull when he was five years old. On May 13, 1941, he married Geneva Wolfswinkel at her home in Hull. For a short time after the marriage, Laurence helped his father on the farm, and, later that year, he purchased a cream route and moved to Sibley. In 1944, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, but he received a medical discharge a few months later. Back in Sibley, Laurence worked for Ford Motor Co. before entering a 12-year partnership in the New Holland Implement and Pontiac-Cadillac dealership in 1944. For three years beginning in 1956, he owned and operated the Sibley bowling alley. In 1959 he became a salesman for New Holland Machine Co. Upon his promotion to district manager in 1963, the family moved to Ankeny. From 1970 to 1990 he was a real-estate broker and owned and managed several rental properties in Ankeny. After a tornado devastated their home, Laurence and Geneva decided to move back to Sibley to be nearer family and friends. As a lifetime member of the Reformed Church in America, Laurence had served as an elder and Sunday school superintendent in both Sibley and DesMoines. He had resided at Country View Manor for the 11 months preceding his death at Osceola Community Hospital. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Geneva; four children and their spouses; Lois and John Van Diepen of Ocheyedan, Jay and Diane Wissink of Wayzata, Minn., Bonnie and Curt Welsh of Wheaton, Ill., and Pamela and Dennis Johnson of Cedar Falls; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister and two brothers, Hilda Ten Haken of Hull, Martin of Hull, and Marvin of Sioux Center. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Laura Jane, and an infant son, Monty Eugene. Sioux County Index-Reporter 1995-12-13.
