Read More	Friday, September 15, 2000 The Halifax Herald Limited DeMONE, Laurie Reginald - Cherryfield, Lunenburg Co., died Wednesday, September 13, 2000, in the Fishermen's Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg. Born in North River, Lunenburg Co., he was a son of the late Pearlie and Lettie (Robar) DeMone. He worked at Bowater, Mersey as a chef for many years later becoming Chief Chef at the Mersey Lodge. He was past president, chartered member and life member of New Germany and Area Lion's Club. He was well known for the ham suppers he organized for the Lion's Club. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, North River, where in his early years he was very active. He was a member of Royal Canadian Legion, New Germany Branch 102. Surviving are his wife, the former Elva Robar; daughters, Theresa Simms, Cherryfield, Marsha DeMone, Ginny Penney, New Germany; Janice Hetu, Barrie, Ont.; sons, Barry, New Germany; Glenn, Scarsdale; Joey, Crousetown; brothers, Everett, Carol, North River; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today, September 15, in Langille's Funeral Home, New Germany, Lunenburg Co. Funeral service 1 p.m. Saturday, September 16, in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, North River, Rev. "Gus" William Gustafson officiating and assisted by Rev. Rolf Meindl. Burial in St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Langille's Funeral Home, New Germany, Lunenburg Co. Donations to New Germany And Area Medical Centre.
