Description	:	Laurina K. Redden Laurina Kristina Redden, 98, Salina, died Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2009, at the Kenwood View Nursing Home, Salina. She was born Laurina Kristina Peterson Oct. 17, 1910, in Assaria, the daughter of Ola and Kristina (Lund) Peterson. She was a homemaker. Laurina grew up in Hallville. She graduated from Wheeler Grade School and Assaria High School. She taught for three years in one-room country schools in the area. Read More	Laurina K. Redden Laurina Kristina Redden, 98, Salina, died Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2009, at the Kenwood View Nursing Home, Salina. She was born Laurina Kristina Peterson Oct. 17, 1910, in Assaria, the daughter of Ola and Kristina (Lund) Peterson. She was a homemaker. Laurina grew up in Hallville. She graduated from Wheeler Grade School and Assaria High School. She taught for three years in one-room country schools in the area. On Oct. 19, 1932, she was married to Hubert Redden, who farmed in the Gypsum area. Together with their sons, they built a farming operation which included cattle feeding and grain farming. Laurina was involved in Methodist WSCS work as district secretary in 1952. She, along with her husband, served as leaders in the Gypsum 4-H club for several years. Also, they were awarded the Kansas Master Farmer and Master Homemaker award. She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years. She liked to garden and loved to prepare dinners for family and friends. She lived on the farm until May 2006, when she moved to Kenwood View Nursing Home, where she resided until her passing. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert; her parents; a son, Warren; three brothers, Frans, Algot and Levi Peterson; and a sister, Edith Stenfors. Survivors include three sons, Rudy and wife Marie, Errol and wife Loretta, and Galen and wife Patsy, and Warren's wife, Vivian, all of Gypsum; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and a stepgreat-great-grandchild. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. today at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth St., Salina 67401, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, at First Baptist Church, 807 Spring St., Gypsum 67448, followed by burial in Gypsum Cemetery, Gypsum.
