Description	:	Lavern Ann Ludwig was born to John and Ann Ludemann on October 1, 1927. She came from a close loving family of twelve children: Allan, Norma, Doris, Lavern, Robert, Darrel, Edward, Wayne, Shirley, Rose, Jane, and Pearl (died at birth). She came from a close loving family of twelve children: Allan, Norma, Doris, Lavern, Robert, Darrel, Edward, Wayne, Shirley, Rose, Jane, and Pearl (died at birth). Lavern was affectionately known to her siblings as “Hon.” Lavern married Junior E. Ludwig on September 17, 1947. They were married 59 years, and to this union five children were born: Jay, Connie, Debbie, Tammy, and Edward. She was so happy that all her children lived around the Spencer area and close to her. In Lavern’s early life, she was a busy farmer’s wife helping on the farm beside her husband. She enjoyed gardening, was an avid bowler, loved to dance, and spent time with friends and family. She enjoyed going to school events of her children and later her grandchildren’s events. Later in life, Lavern kept her hands busy crocheting tea towels or pillowcases, working in puzzle books, and making baby quilts for her grandkids. Lavern loved to take care of her flowers, especially petunias, and watching her baby calves romping in the cattle yard out her kitchen window. She was an avid fan of watching Nebraska volleyball and pro golf. Her most prized pastime was playing cards. Since she came from Ludemann descent, card playing was at the top of her list. Lavern would live to win at the end of any card game. Just ask Travis Ludwig about a game of Crazy Eights. Since June of 2017, Lavern had been living at the Villa in Spencer and was enjoying the time there visiting with family or friends, or playing cards. She had recently been able to go to The Hill one last time. Lavern was really proud of all her grandkids and great-grandkids, she loved them dearly. She would enjoy seeing them when they visited her and loved their hugs. Lavern was called to heaven to be with Junior on March 26, 2018, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk. She will be cherished always and sadly missed. Lavern is survived by her children, Jay (Deb) Ludwig, Connie (Doug) Johnson, Debbie (Tom) Kayl, Tammy (John) Dickey, and Edward (Annette) Ludwig, all of Spencer, Nebraska; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; siblings, Wayne (Lorraine) Ludemann of Fairfax, South Dakota, Darrel Ludemann of Lynch, Nebraska, Jane (Larry) Frank of Burke, South Dakota, and Rose Hartshorn of Eugene, Oregon; sisters-in-law, LeeAnn Cork of Omaha, Nebraska and Margaret Ludemann of Fort Pierre, South Dakota; and host of extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Junior; her parents, John and Ann; and several brothers and sisters.
