(Lefty) Chambers. He died November 18 in Council Bluffs. Pastor Stan Nielsen officiated at the service. Marian Eckmann was the accompanist with selections, "The Old Rugged Cross." And "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere." Pallbearers were Merlyn Martin, Marvin Martin, Brandon Chambers, Robert Chambers, Leland Foote, and Dean Anderson. He grew up in the Persia area with the exception of three years in the United States Army. He was a life-long resident of Persia. On November 15, 1945, he was united in marriage to Doris Helm in St. Louis, MO. To this union seven children were born. Lavern was custidian in the Persia School building and also the Tri-Center Elementary building for 36 years. He retired October 20, 1983. Survivors include his wife, Doris of Persia; four daughters, Janice Feese of , Il. Janette McCully of Hudson, Jean Chambers of Tewksbury, MA, and Joanne Chambers of Burlington; three sons, William of Fowler, CO, Robert K. of Chive, Russel (Ben) of Waujee; one brother, William F. Chambers of Council Bluffs; seven grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two great grandchildren and four Step great grandchildren. Arrangements were by Schumach Funeral Home in Persia.
