He married Frances Belle Clark September 10, 1955 in Centerville. A resident of Drakesville most of his life, LaVern served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He had worked in maintenance for Hormel. LaVern enjoyed fishing, reading, gardening, cutting wood and spending time in his shop. He was born February 25, 1932 in Melrose, IA to Howard and Juanita Sines Fenton. He married Frances Belle Clark September 10, 1955 in Centerville. A resident of Drakesville most of his life, LaVern served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He had worked in maintenance for Hormel. LaVern enjoyed fishing, reading, gardening, cutting wood and spending time in his shop. He also loved to share stories, antique tractors and spending time with his grandchildren and great -grandchildren. Surviving is his wife, Frances; three daughters, Pamela (Wes) Frazier of Drakesville, Patricia (Jim) Sours of Milwaukee, WI, Peggy Richmond of Ottumwa; six sons, Douglas Fenton of Des Moines, Michael Fenton of Batavia, Mark (Deb) Fenton of Drakesville, Don (Sheryl) Fenton of Leighton, Timothy Fenton and Christopher Fenton, both of Drakesville; fifteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Dean and Jim Fenton; two sisters, Dora Jane Pilcher and Betty Valentine. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Paula Fenton; grandson, Jamie Fenton; two brothers, Bill and George Fenton; a sister, Karol Knutson and a son-in-law, Dan Richmond. Graveside services and burial will be 1 p.m. Friday in Wesley Chapel Cemetery with his grandchildren, Dylan Van Antwerp and Ashleigh Richmond presiding. Military services will be conducted by Walter B. Shafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars and O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion. Visitation will begin 11 a.m. Thursday at Reece Funeral Home with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday. Memorials may be made to Wesley Chapel Cemetery Association.
