Description	:	LaVerna Viola Wright Laschanzky Morris was born to Ira B. Wright and Florence Smith Wright on October 7, 1904, at McCool Junction, and passed away March 5, 1992, at the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva at the age of 87 years, 4 months and 24 days. Wright and Florence Smith Wright on October 7, 1904, at McCool Junction, and passed away March 5, 1992, at the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva at the age of 87 years, 4 months and 24 days. She was the eldest of five children in the family. LaVerna grew up in McCool and received her education in the McCool schools, attending through the 10th grade. She had to leave school after that to take care of her ailing mother. She also helped her father in the hardware business. She was united in marriage to William Henry Laschanzky of Fairmont on October 7, 1922, in her family home in McCool. They made their home on the Laschanzky family farm northwest of Fairmont. To this union were born three children, Genevieve, LaVonne and Darrell. On March 19, 1939, her beloved husband departed this world. With 65 dollars and some furniture, LaVerna moved to Fairmont with her children. She was determined to keep her family together, and found work with Francis and Teresa Schepers in their home. This loving and caring family became very important to LaVerna and her family. She also worked for the Schepers family in their grocery market, and the continued generosity of Francis was shown many times, and he always watched out for LaVerna's best interest. She also worked for Harrigton's and later at Mumby's Restaurant. With this strong drive, and the help of a multitude of friends, in raising her family, she stayed independent. She brought her family up in a Christian home and taught them to be morally strong and honest. In 1952, she was united in marriage to Ernest Morris of Utica and moved to his farm. After Ernest's death, she returned to Fairmont in 1974, where she resided until her death. LaVerna was a member of the Fairmont Community Church, and the Neighborhood Birthday Club. She was always willing to give a helping hand to those who needed her. Her compassionate understanding helped many who sought her counseling. LaVerna was preceded in death by her parents, Ira and Florence Wright; husband, William Henry Laschanzky; two sisters, Minnie Wright and Robert Wright; two brothers, John Wright and Clarence Wright; and her second husband, Ernest Morris. She is survived by two daughters, Genevieve Gustafson of Marinette, Wi., and LaVonne Eber of Omaha; one son, Darrell Laschanzky of Littleton, Co.; one daughter-in-law, Jody Laschanzky of Littleton, Oc.; grandchildren, Gregory and Linda Ebert, Anita Gustafson, Gina Holewinski, Sheila and Randy Revall, Becky and Jeff Williams, Brian Laschanzky, Heidi Laschanzky and Mark Laschanzky; five great-grandchildren, David Revall, Paul Holewinski, Grace Holewinski, Jeffery Ebert and Erika Ebert; and several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted from the Fairmont Community Church at 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 9, with Rev. Tony Woodward officiating. Nancy Jo Galusha accompanied Robert O. Rhodes, who sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Our Father has Light in His Window." Pallbearers were Jerry Gangstad, Kenneth Kness, Butch Pankoke, Jerry Laschanzky, Melvin Ackerman and Steve Cantrell. Interment was in the Fairmont Public Cemetery. The Nebraska Signal March 12th, 1992 page 9. She is buried next to her first husband using his last name. Lot owner: Henry Laschanzky.
