Description	:	LaVerne Christian Lutjen, age 88, of rural Boone, passed away June 14, 2016, at Bethany Life in Story City. Funeral services are Saturday, June 18, 2016, at 1:30 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church northeast of Boone. Burial will be in St. Paul’s Cemetery. Friends may call at the Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall in Boone on Friday from 3 until 8 p.m. where the family will be present from 6 until 8 p.m. On Saturday, friends may call at the Church from noon until service time. Read More	LaVerne Christian Lutjen, age 88, of rural Boone, passed away June 14, 2016, at Bethany Life in Story City. LaVerne Christian Lutjen was born on the family farm near Stanhope, Iowa, on April 6, 1928, the son of Christian Heinrich Ludwig Lutjen and Katharina Anna Maria Moeller. He graduated from Stanhope High School in 1945. On September 2, 1951, LaVerne married Lorraine Murken at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boone. He farmed and raised cattle and hogs on the Lutjen Century Farm in Hamilton County near Stanhope. LaVerne served on the Boards of Lutheran Home for the Aged and Stanhope Co-op Elevator. He was a 4-H Leader and was a member of the Stanhope Lions Club. LaVerne was a faithful and active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, serving as a Sunday School Superintendent, choir member, and an Elder, Chairman, and Treasurer of the Church Council. He loved attending the activities and sporting events of his daughters and grandchildren. He also enjoyed watching baseball and reading. LaVerne is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Elsie Lundstrom and Irene Schwieger, and grandson Aaron Heineman. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lorraine of Boone; daughters Deborah (Michael) Bonello of Sparta, WI, Kathleen Anderson of Maple Grove, MN, Pamela (Mervin) Hansen of Woodward, IA, and Mari Lynn (Paul) Heineman of Ogden, IA; grandchildren Christian (Kristina) Bonello, Derek (Katy) Bonello, Brian (Jenelle) Anderson, Laura Anderson (Matt Lindorfer), Sarah (Dan) Frith, Bradley (Jane) Hansen, Kyle (Heather) Hansen, Andrew Heineman (Katy Leichsenring), Marcus (Leslie) Heineman, and Grant Heineman; six great grandchildren; and numerous extended family members.
