Madison, passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at 12:58 PM at the Kensington. She was born on September 4, 1927 in Houghton, IA to Joseph and Nellie Freesmeier Denning. On April 21, 1948 she married Vernon C. Coffey at St. John's Church in Houghton, IA and he passed away on June 21, 2007. LaVerne was a homemaker and also worked at Ron's Market and County Market. She was a member of Ss. Mary & Joseph Church, CLA, Altar & Rosary and Rebecca Pollard Study Club. LaVerne and her husband also owned and operated the Coffey House Bed and Breakfast. She was a gifted seamstress and an avid Chicago Cubs fan, often traveling to Chicago and Arizona to cheer them on. LaVerne loved spending time with her family and took much pride in preparing meals and desserts for those she loved. Survivors include two sons, Gary (Amy) Coffey of Wever, IA and Michael (Shelby) Coffey of Urbandale, IA; five daughters, JoAnn Coffey of St. Louis, MO, Cindy (Bob) Crement of Spring Grove, IL, Colleen (Ralph) Krogmeier of Donnellson, IA, Michelle (Tom) Richers of Marion, IA and Erin (Lee) Tieman of St. Joseph, MO; fifteen grandchildren, John (Talisa) Yeast, Joel (Amanda) Yeast, Ben Coffey, Jason Flach, Christina (Erin) Isenring, Jessica (Todd) Shillington, Kelly (Adam) Pieper, Shannon(Gunnar Wellman) Krogmeier, Matthew (Stephanie) Coffey and Jennifer Coffey, Brian and Nicole Richers, Jospeh, Kristen and Michael Tieman; four great grandchildren, Taylor Isenring, Ty and Quinn Shillington and Rhett Pieper; one brother, Jim Denning of Houghton, IA; three sisters, Ruth Mertens of Burlington, IA Phyllis Steffensmeier of Houghton, IA and Sister Jane Denning of St. Francis, WI; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, Father Joseph Denning. King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory was in charge of the arrangements. The funeral mass was held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at Ss. Mary & Joseph Church with Rev. David Wilkening officiating. Burial will follow in Soldiers' Circle, Oakland Cemetery.
