Description	:	LaVerne Henning, the daughter of Irvin and Vernie (Strahl) Sigler, was born June 10, 1926 in Carroll County, Iowa and passed away at her home December 31, 2013 in Jefferson, Iowa. Read More	LaVerne Henning, the daughter of Irvin and Vernie (Strahl) Sigler, was born June 10, 1926 in Carroll County, Iowa and passed away at her home December 31, 2013 in Jefferson, Iowa. She lived a full life to the age of 87 years, 6 months and 21 days. LaVerne graduated from Coon Rapids High School in 1944. On August 21, 1947, LaVerne Sigler was united in marriage to Marvin Henning at Methodist Church Parsonage in Coon Rapids. Their marriage lasted 57 years until Marvin's death. One daughter, Sharon, was born to this union. They farmed in Greene and Guthrie counties until 1960 when they moved to Jefferson. LaVerne was a wife, mother and homemaker, but also worked at Saba's Bakery and Deal's Apple Orchard. LaVerne and Marvin loved to be together and enjoyed attending to their trap lines and fishing, going to flea markets, garage sales and auctions buying collectibles. They spent thirteen winters in Texas. LaVerne enjoyed bird watching and bus trips to Tama for a little gambling but most of all, doting over her granddaughter and great-grandchildren. Since Marvin's death in 2005, LaVerne made many trips to her daughter's home near the Lake of the Ozarks and for the last seven months of her life, she stayed with her daughter, surrounded by her family. LaVerne was a member of the Central Christian Church in Jefferson. Laverne is survived by her daughter, Sharon Kinnan and granddaughter, Paula Kinnan, both of Edwards, Missouri; great-grandchildren: Tyler Moberg of Harrisonville, Missouri; Bailey Moberg of Green Ridge, Missouri and Wyatt Waters of Edwards, Missouri. Also surviving are a brother-in-law, Allen Henning of Boone and sisters-in-law; Marylund Henning of Cheyenne, Wyoming; Roberta Henning of Jefferson; Phyllis Tiefenthaler of Odebolt; Jeanette Henning Hostetler of Cooper and Virginia Henning of Jefferson. Those who preceded her in death were her parents, husband, Marvin in 2005, a son-in-law, Gary Kinnan in 2012, twelve brothers and sisters and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. A visitation for LaVerne was held at the Brown Funeral Home in Jefferson on Sunday, January 5, 2014 with a Prayer Service at 2:30 P.M. with Pastor Debbie Griffin officiating. A favorite song "Precious Lord, Take My Hand" was played at the service. Burial was in the Scranton Cemetery near Scranton. Serving as casket bearers were Tyler Moberg, Rich Kinnan, Rod Walker, Treigh Wilborn, Daryl Sigler and Rick Henning. Source: funeral home website
