Description	:	LaVerne W. Kramer , 88, of Lamont, Iowa, died Thursday, February 12, 2009, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, following complications of a surgical procedure. He was born in Farley, Iowa, on October 27, 1920, the son of Joseph and Mary (Oberboeckling) Kramer. LaVerne was raised in the Farley area, attended rural schools, drove a milk truck, farmed, and did carpentry. He was born in Farley, Iowa, on October 27, 1920, the son of Joseph and Mary (Oberboeckling) Kramer. LaVerne was raised in the Farley area, attended rural schools, drove a milk truck, farmed, and did carpentry. On April 5, 1945, LaVerne was united in marriage to Marguerite Arnold at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Earlville. He was a carpenter in Farley, and farmed in Earlville, Prairieburg, and Monticello until in February 1959, they bought a farm and moved near Lamont. Laverne was a NaChurs Fertilizer salesman for 60 years and also sold seed corn. He was a former member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lamont and currently a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Strawberry Point. He was also a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus. His hobbies were having fun with his family, woodworking, and fishing. Survivors include his wife, Marguerite Kramer of Lamont; four daughters, Janice (Thomas) Schroeder of Hazelton, Joanne (Robert) Harbaugh of Edgewood, Patricia Hagge of Dubuque, and Mary Jane Kramer (Richard Cooper) of Alexandria, Virginia; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and four siblings, Lorraine Kramer of Dyersville, Martha Jane Demmer of Farley, Herbert (Mae) Kramer of Dyersville, and Arlene Jaeger of Dyersville. LaVerne was preceded in death by his son Gary Kramer in 2000; a granddaughter, Christine Schroeder; and siblings, Raymond Kramer, Evelyn Winters, Marcella Kramer, Mercedes Ries, Clarence Kramer, Leonard Kramer, Bernice Lansing, and Joseph Kramer, Jr. Memorials may be directed to the Minneapolis Heart Institute at 920 East 28th Street Minneapolis, Minn. 55407 or www.mplsheart.com
