Description	:	WILLEY, LaVETA MERLE—LaVeta Merle Willey was born to Fred Madison and Esther Koozer Madison on Jan. 7, 1923 east of Geneva on a farm. She passed away May 30, 2003, at the age of 80 years, four months and 23 days. She was their only child. LaVeta grew up during the depression years. Read More	WILLEY, LaVETA MERLE—LaVeta Merle Willey was born to Fred Madison and Esther Koozer Madison on Jan. 7, 1923 east of Geneva on a farm. She passed away May 30, 2003, at the age of 80 years, four months and 23 days. She was their only child. LaVeta grew up during the depression years. She attended School District 45 and graduated from Geneva High School in 1940. LaVeta and Dean Willey were married on June 4, 1944 and to them two children were born. While her husband was overseas in the service, LaVeta candled eggs for Geneva Produce and later was a cook in a café. LaVeta then went to work at the Fillmore County Hospital as a cook for 22 years before retiring where she had so many nice co-workers. She enjoyed raising flowers and used to have big gardens. LaVeta and Dean went on many summer camping trips to Gavin’s Point Dam near Yankton, S.D., where they met and made many friends. They would have celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary this month. LaVeta enjoyed reading many books and was a loving and devoted wife and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Esther Madison. She is survived by her husband, Dean; son Robert Dean and wife Judy; daughter, Norma Jean Willey; grandchildren Amanda Sue and husband, Jarrod Neujhar, and Brian Dean Willey; brother-in-law George Willey; nephew Gary Willey and wife Alyce; niece Judy Gruetzinger and husband, Roger; and several cousins. Funeral services were conducted from the Farmer & Son Funeral Home in Geneva on Tuesday, June 2, with Rev. Pat Kelley officiating. Susan Kleinschmidt accompanied Delwin Myers, who sang, “Beyond the Sunset” and “How Great Thou Art.” Casket bearers were John and Don Wilkins, Charles Krupicka, LeRoy Rippe, Mel Krause and Lambert Hopken.
