Read More	Lavina Clemetson WESSINGTON SPRINGS – Lavina Clemetson, 78, of Miller and formerly of the Wessington Springs area died Monday evening, March 8, 1993, at Hand County Memorial Hospital in Miller. The funeral service was held Saturday, March 13, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Wessington Springs with Reverend Tom Sahl of Highmore officiating. Burial was in the Salem Lutheran Cemetery of Wessington Springs. Lavina Morehewad was born May 29, 1914, at Wessington Springs to Junius and Ella (Jackson) Morehead. She graduated from Wessington Springs High School in 1931 and received her teaching degree from Wessington Springs Junior College. She taught elementary school until she married Clifford L. Clemetson February 1, 1936. They farmed near Wessington Springs until his death in 1950. In 1955, she returned to her teaching career, settling in Miller in 1958. In 1961, she married Francis Xavier Hardes. She earned her Bachelor's Degree from Black Hills State College, Spearfish, in 1967. She established one of the first programs in South Dakota to aid children with learning disabilities. She retired in 1977. In 1992, she won the South Dakota Senior Bowling Women's Singles and went on to compete in the national tournament in Texas. Survivors include four sons and three daughters-in-law, Terry Clemetson of Huron, Dave and Lorrie Clemetson of El Monte, CA, Rich and Diane Clemetson of Pierre and Jim and Bobee Clemetson of Omaha, NE; one step-daughter, Deb Johnson of White Lake; twenty-two grandchildren; and two brothers, Junius and Daton, both of Wessington Springs. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four sisters; one grandchild and one great-grandchild. Pallbearers were John Bangle and Clifford, David, James, LeRoy, Richard, Robert and Terrance Clemetson. Honorary pallbearers were Hattie Cherland, Rose Danburg, Lorine Davis, Emily Naber, Mary Pawlovich, Kren Shomer and all her friends and former students.
