Description	:	KEARNEY — LaVon L. Goddard, 71, of Kearney died Monday, Jan. 18, 2016, at CHI Health Good Samaritan. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Pleasanton Evangelical Free Church with the Revs. Chris Boucher and Doug DeNeui officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Valley Cemetery northwest of Pleasanton. Rasmussen Funeral Home in Ravenna is in charge of arrangements. LaVon Lou Goddard was born Dec. 24, 1944, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Loup City to Kenneth and Fern (Cherry) Reitz. She attended Elder Grove Country School at South Loup in her early years. She graduated from Litchfield High School. As a child she attended South Loup Community Church. She accepted Jesus as Savior when she was 5 years old. She attended New Tribes Bible Institute in Waukesha, Wis., where she met her future husband, Robert Goddard. They were married on Jan. 24, 1965, at South Loup Community Church. Together, they completed their missions training 1½ years later. To this union were born two sons, Wesley Goddard and Wayne Goddard. Bob and LaVon served with New Tribes Mission for 45 years in Paraguay, South America. Bob and LaVon retired and moved to Kearney four years ago. Survivors include her husband, Robert of Kearney; sons, Wesley and Wayne, both of Paraguay; sister-in-law, Mary Reitz of Pleasanton; brothers, George and wife Donna Reitz of Pleasanton and Peter and wife Belva Reitz of Hesperus, Colo.; sister, Becky and husband Joe Lucas of Kearney; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother, Millie Reitz; brothers, Laverne, Larry, Lloyd and Danny Reitz; infant sister, Donna Reitz; and nephew, Ricky Reitz.
