A lifelong resident of Webster County, LaVona grew up in the Blue Hill area and graduated from the Blue Hill High School in 1934 with a certificate in normal training. As a young girl she was baptized at the Blue Hill First Christian Church. Her father died when she was 12 and she dedicated herself at a young age caring for her siblings and working around the home. A lifelong resident of Webster County, LaVona grew up in the Blue Hill area and graduated from the Blue Hill High School in 1934 with a certificate in normal training. As a young girl she was baptized at the Blue Hill First Christian Church. Her father died when she was 12 and she dedicated herself at a young age caring for her siblings and working around the home. She was united in marriage with Norbert A. Borwege on February 4-1934 at Osborne Kansas. After her family was raised she worked at the Blue Hill Care Center as a nurses aide and also a cook. They made their home north of Bladen. In 1990 the farm was sold and LaVona moved to the Westgate Manor in Blue Hill to live. LaVona was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and was active for many years with the Nebraska Hereford Women's Association. In her leisure time she enjoyed fishing, golf and bowling Her love for her family was immeasurable, and she was happiest when they were spending time together. Her personality was pervaded by a strong work ethic and a devotion to family and friends. Preceding her death were her parents, her step-father, Charles Stowers, her husband Norbert on Dec-24-1989; brothers, John, Burdette, Marvin and Robert Eugene Armstrong and son-in-laws, Derald Burgess and Larry Sanford. Survived by: Children: Sharon Burgess, Bonna (Larry) Vance, Diane (Larry) Overy, Colleen (Leonard) Kucera, Norbert S.(Sonja) Borwege, 11 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 5 step-great grandchildren Brother: Lyle (Anne) Armstrong Step-Brother: Charles Stowers Williams Funeral Home Red Cloud Nebraska April 2016
