The Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Lang was held at 11 AM, Friday, January 15, 1999, in St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Brooklyn. Rev. Richard Okumu officiated and the organist was Marilyn Kriegel. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery, Brooklyn. A Rosary service was held at 7 PM, Thursday, at the Nevenhoven Funeral Home, Brooklyn. A memorial fund has been established. Lawrence Albert Lang, son of Joseph and Catherine Westendorf Lang, was born October 26, 1915, at New Hampton, Iowa. He was raised at Haverhill and received his education in a rural school. He married Dorothea Mae Anthony on October 1, 1945, at Jackson, Minnesota. They were dairy farmers many years in the Malcom area. Since 1949 they have lived at Brooklyn except for four years when they lived at Gilman. He was employed by Amana Refrigeration retiring March 1, 1981. Mr. Lang was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Brooklyn, and a former member of the Grange. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, 3 sisters and 1 granddaughter. Survivors include his wife, Dorothea; 3 sons and their wives, David and Patricia Lang, of Papillion, Nebraska, Larry and Lorna Lang of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Joe and Kathy Lang of Boone; 2 daughters, Karen Siebers of Great Falls, Montana and Vivian Lane of Des Moines; 2 brothers, Sylvester Lang of Marshalltown and George Lang of Grundy Center; 4 sisters, Mildred Freese of Marshalltown, Celestine Boyer of Arlington, Virginia, Rose Marie Crawford of Stanton, California, and Marjorie Haaf of Cedar Rapids; 12 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren.
