Description	:	Lawrence Arthur Bush was born in October 10, 1877 in Guss, Iowa, the son of David Washington and Margaret Jane (Halliday) Bush. Their children were: Charles Harvey, Minnie Ann, Franklin Urban, Vesta Lydia, Lawrence Arthur and Mary Belle. The family moved from Salem, Ohio to Guss, Iowa. Read More	Lawrence Arthur Bush was born in October 10, 1877 in Guss, Iowa, the son of David Washington and Margaret Jane (Halliday) Bush. Their children were: Charles Harvey, Minnie Ann, Franklin Urban, Vesta Lydia, Lawrence Arthur and Mary Belle. The family moved from Salem, Ohio to Guss, Iowa. When Lawrence was 23 years old, he decided to leave Iowa to travel the country and worked his way through Nebraska, Wyoming and finally Colorado. While in Colorado, he was in town one day when he saw his father, David Bush, who he had not seen in 15 years. David has left the family when Lawrence was eight years old. Lawrence stayed in Colorado about a week and then left for home. He said he was gone for three weeks and four days and that was the end of his "wild oats." Lawrence married Elnora Ellen "Pudge" Huss in 1904. Lawrence farmed near Guss where son Howard (1905) and daughter Maxine (1909) were born. In 1910, Lawrence purchased a half section of land near Hooker, Oklahoma. He raised maize, kafir corn and watermelons. Son Wado was born in 1911. On Easter Sunday of that year, they had a severe sandstorm. It was the same day a tornado partly destroyed Omaha, Nebraska. Crops failed that year. In 1913, they moved back to Iowa and daughter Marquerite was born. In 1917, Lawrence purchased 120 acres near Clearfield, Iowa. Elnora died in 1925 and is buried in Guss Cemetery. In 1956, Lawrence moved to Ephrata, Washngton where his four children lived as well as his deceased sister Vesta who had left a farm. Lawrence bought part of it and lived there gardening and raising chickens. FIVE GENERATIONS Lawrence celebrated his 105th birthday with five generations of family present on October 10th at Columbia Basin Hospital. He passed away a few days later.
