He was born April 7, 1924, in Defiance County, the son of Carl and Erna (Bostelman) Baden. In 1945, he married Marionette (Mary) Cordes, who survives. He was a farmer and worked at Home Oil Co. and Schultz Oil Co., Okolona, as a gas and oil distributor for 35 years. Read More	Defiance Crescent News Obituary Lawrence C. Baden, 78, rural Defiance, died Friday afternoon, March 7, 2003 in his home. He was born April 7, 1924, in Defiance County, the son of Carl and Erna (Bostelman) Baden. In 1945, he married Marionette (Mary) Cordes, who survives. He was a farmer and worked at Home Oil Co. and Schultz Oil Co., Okolona, as a gas and oil distributor for 35 years. He was a life member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Okolona, serving as church president, trustee, deacon and Sunday school treasurer, and was a member of the cemetery board and dart ball league. He served in the U.S. Army from 1945-1946 during World War II in the Philippines. He was a life member of Napoleon Bert. G. Taylor American Legion Post 300 and Fort Defiance VFW Post 3360. Also surviving are a son, David, Houston; two daughters, Mrs. Jeff (Jackie) Kane and Mrs. Randy (Annette) Hardy of Waterville; a brother, Harlin, Westerville; a sister, Mrs. Delbert (Velma) Gerken, Napoleon; and six grandchildren. Preceding him in death were a brother, Donald, and a sister Renetta Schneuker. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Okolona with Rev. Lee Rupert officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, where Napoleon and Defiance military posts will accord military honors.. Visitation is from 2-4 and 6-9 p..m. Monday at Snyder-Wesche Funeral Home, Napoleon, and after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Preferred memorials are to the church parking lot fund, Hospice the Caring Way of Defiance or the Filing Home of Mercy, Napoleon.
