Survivors a e his wife, eleven children, sixteen grandchildren, five brothers and one sister. Lawrence Christoph, son of Jacob Schoon and his wife Mary Helgens was born February 11, 1888 at Amber. He was baptized at Wayne Lutheran church March 9, 1888, by Rev. C. Mardorf. He was also confirmed by Rev. Mardorf March 22, 1902. April 16, 1914, he was married at Wayne to Johanna Elsia Rieklefs. Mr. Schoon spent many years in farming near Anamosa and Martelle and also near Viola. Survived Named Children surviving are Ella, Mrs. Mervyn Kapp, Viola; Ida, Mrs. Charles Bauserman, Cedar Rapids; Mildred, Mrs. George Chposky, Cedar Rapids; Pauline, Mrs. Merle Husmann, Center Junction; Leland, Springville; Harlan, Anamosa; Nelda, Mrs. Dillon Mead, Center Junction; Marvin, with the armed forces of our country now stationed at Germany, and Evelyn, Mrs. Paul Paulsen, Scotch Grove. Brothers and sisters surviving are Mrs. John Warner, Saint Cloud, Minnesota; Wil, Adolph, Henry and Alva all of Amber. His parents and a sister, Mrs. Adolph Eggers, preceded him in death.
