Description	:	Lawrence Edward Tappan went to heaven on December 30, 2014. Larry was born in Gandy, Nebraska, on March 28, 1939, to Claude (Bus) Tappan and Viola Alma (Elma) Tappan. He attended high school in Gandy, NE. In 1958, Larry enlisted in the Army and later received his GED. He served four years in the military and achieved Spec 5 rank. Larry and Sandra Gay Fellows were united in marriage on October 19, 1958. Larry was honorably discharged in 1961. He returned to his home in Neligh, NE. Larry was born in Gandy, Nebraska, on March 28, 1939, to Claude (Bus) Tappan and Viola Alma (Elma) Tappan. He attended high school in Gandy, NE. In 1958, Larry enlisted in the Army and later received his GED. He served four years in the military and achieved Spec 5 rank. Larry and Sandra Gay Fellows were united in marriage on October 19, 1958. Larry was honorably discharged in 1961. He returned to his home in Neligh, NE. On February 2, 1962, Rocky Joe Tappan was born. Larry moved his family to Cozad, NE, and later to North Platte; where he served as a Police Officer and advanced to the rank of Detective. He attended the Police Academy in Nebraska. After 9 years and 9 months on the Force, he moved his family to Texas in 1972. Larry served as Deputy Sherriff of Chambers County, TX. Later he served with the Baytown Police Department and continued his education in Police Science. After leaving the police force he became a start-up manager of two truck stops, was a 24 hour restaurateur, and then became a self-employed truck owner-operator. Realizing retirement was near he opted to work for Olin Water Services and Grace Trucking. Larry and Sandy retired in 1998, moved back to Arnold, NE, and purchased his Aunt and Uncle's home. After remodeling the house, he found that he needed something more to do. As Larry was prone to do, he kept looking for the right opportunity. The Woodward family farm, which had two lakes and the Loup River running through it, came up for sale. Larry immediately set out to purchase it. Once he took possession of the property, he started to burn buildings and then developed them. The farm later became the Double T Campground site, which was used for church and numerous other events. He heard about the housing real estate market in Arizona City, AZ, from the France family and was told of the opportunity to make money by flipping houses. In January 2010, he and Sandy bought their first house to flip in Arizona City. After 3 months they returned to Nebraska. Once again Sandy became very ill. Larry called for listings of houses. The France family helped them to purchase their home where they currently live. Larry enjoyed his family, church, friends, and gardening. He moved his worship time from Casa Grande Christian Church to the Evangelical Methodist Church in Arizona City. He and his friends from the church enjoyed flying model airplanes. Larry is survived by his wife, Sandra Gay Tappan, of Arizona City, AZ; his son, Rocky Joe Tappan and daughter-in-law, Doris, of La Grange, TX; Aunt and Uncle Arlene and Earl Lamb of Idaho; Uncle Lynn and Flora Snow of Alabama and Aunt Norma of Washington; brothers and sisters in-law; Dick Fellows, of Brady, NE; Pat and Bill France, of Lexington, NE; Sharon Nejedley, of North Platte, NE; Kevin and Vicki Fellows, of Etoile, TX; Joel and Susan Fellows, of Wasilla, Alaska; and many other loved nieces, nephews, and very special friends. He was preceded in death by; mother, Viola Alma Tappan; father, Claude Wayne Tappan; uncles and aunts, William Snow, Donna and Dean Jarmin, Violet and Wendell Auble, Elmer Snow, Walt and Myrtle Tappan, and Ceo Tapppan; brothers and sisters-in-law, Frank Nejedly, Mary Fellows, June and Pal Carpenter; and other loved family members. Funeral services will be 10:30 am Monday, January 12, 2015 at the Tallin Church south of Arnold. Graveside services will be 2:00 pm at the McCain Cemetery south of Stapleton with military honors. Carpenter Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
