Mr. Lawrence Calkins passed away in the Rimbey and District Health Centre on January 22, 1999 at the age of 87 years. Lawrence was born on December 29, 1911 on the family farm in Lockhart, Alberta, the second son of Charlie and Pearl Calkins. He took all his education at the Calkins Valley School, now known as the Lockhart Community Centre. In 1932 he was married to Margaret Cummings. To this union there were three children; Neva (Jack) Kowalzik, Dale (Tilly), both of Rimbey, Trevor (Maureen) of Victoria, nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Lawrence was predeceased by one brother John, one grandson Keith and one great grandson Kyle. He is survived by one brother Elmer (Gladys) of Bentley, his sister Margaret (Lawrence) Greif of Red Deer and many nieces, nephews and friends. A memorial service will be held at the Forshee Hall on Saturday, January 30, 1999 at 2:00 p m. with Don McFadyen to officiate. Cremation has taken place.
