Lawrensen, a resident of the Greenfield and Beresford communities for 58 years died Thursday evening the hospital at Vermillion and was buried Tuesday afternoon in the Rockfield cemetery following services in the Rockfield Danish church by Rev. A. V. Neve. Asthma, from which he had suffered for several years, complicated by influenza and old age infirmities, was the cause of his death. He entered the hospital Sunday, March 19. Mr. Lawrensen was born December 13, 1868, at Tronder Schlesvig Holstein, Denmark, and came with his parents to this country when he was 12 years old. The family came directly to Dakota Territory and settled in the Greenfield community where he grew to manhood. On February 2, 1898, he was united in marriage to Hannah Robertson. For the next four years he farmed in partnership with his brother-in-law R. P. Robertson on the old Stefan Robertson homestead and then moved to the farm a mile west and three miles south of Alsen where he spent the remainder of his life, with the exception of a few years in Beresford and a short time in California. His wife died on January 21, 1918. Surviving him is a daughter, Mrs. Herbert Jorgensen at whose house he was living when taken with the final illness. He also leaves two brothers and two sisters, Andrew of Vermillion and Max of Wendling, Oregon, Mrs. H. J. Hansen of Greenfield and Mrs. J. L. Jorgensen of this city. Among those who came here for the funeral were his brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Max Lawrensen, their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Lawrensen and their daughter all of Wendling, Oregon, who drove here after receiving word of his death.
