He had reached the age of 54 years, 3 months and 28 days. He was baptized in the Baptist church Mount Olive. When he was a young man, he moved with his parents to Pipestone, Minn., where he was engaged in farming until he entered the service of World War I. After receiving his discharge, he re-engaged in farming at the home place in Silver township. Later he moved to Cherokee where he made his home until the time of his death. He leaves to mourn his passing, Four brothers and three sisters, Fenton of Wilmington, Calif., Robert of Cherokee, Glenn of Quimby, Ronald of Gearhart, Ore., Mrs. Rose Casey of Sutherland, Mrs. Minnie Connor of Cherokee, Mrs. Neva Vandergriff of Portland Ore, also other relatives and a host of friends. One sister. Mrs. Gertrude Schlotman preceded him in death also a niece, Delia Jane Niles, who was reared in the McMurrin home. Funeral services were held Dec. 31 from St Pauls Methodist church at Cherokee. Rev J. E. Feller officiating Music was furnished by Mrs. Otto Huebner and Mrs. Ivan Bushlow. Mrs. Huebner sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "God Be With You Till We Meet Again" The American Legion and V. F W. furnished pall bearers and conducted military rites at the grave in Silver cemetery.
